International short film festival “VideoTrain” for students

SMK College of Applied Sciences invites you to participate in the international short film festival for students called “VideoTrain” on 26th March 2026. The festival aims to foster connections among students from various countries who are learning to create videos and films, to explore new creative and technological trends, and to give students the opportunity to showcase their work to a broad audience and a professional jury, which not only selects the winners but also provides feedback to all participants. The festival’s name suggests a “train” guiding participants towards new career heights, as well as a “training” ground before entering larger festivals.

The video festival is divided into 3 categories

  • Narrative video:
    • Videos in this category should tell a fictional story
    • Maximum duration of 7 minutes
    • Submissions of various types are encouraged, including and not limited to: Artistic, educational, musical, promotional and experimental.
    • Special effects, sound effects and music are allowed.
    • Please upload your video with the following name: “ (Creators’ full names) + (Title of the movie) + (name of your institution)
  • Documentary video:
    • This category focuses on non-fictional storytelling.
    • Maximum duration of 7 minutes
    • Submissions of various types are encouraged, including and not limited to: Artistic, educational, musical, promotional and experimental
    • Special effects, sound effects and music are allowed
    • Please upload your video with the following name: “ (Creators’ full names) + (Title of the movie) + (name of your institution)
  • Lumiere Brothers video:
    • Static camera (no movement)
    • No editing allowed – one shot
    • Exact duration of 50 seconds
    • Black and white
    • The frame composition should be excellent, capturing an interesting subject. Music is allowed.
    • There should be a lot of movement within the frame, seeking to keep the viewer engaged.
    • Please upload your video with the following name: “ (Creators’ full names) + (Title of the movie) + (name of your institution)

 

Submission, Awards and Voting

The video can be done individually or by a team of people. One video per participant per category. All submitted videos should be in English or have English subtitles.

Videos must be uploaded to the designated folder by March 12, 2026 (inclusive). Please note that submissions will not be accepted after the deadline.

Each category will have one winner, who will be selected by a panel of professional jurors. The winners will receive an award. An Audience Prize will also be awarded, based on live voting by the attendees. Our sponsors will present special prizes to their favourite films, which will be chosen during the event. Additionally, all participants will receive a certificate of participation.

If you cannot attend the video festival in person, you will have the possibility to join online. If you win a certificate or prize, it will be sent to you.
