Science and art activities

SMK science and arts activities are based on solving pressing problems for society, business and individual communities by bringing together interdisciplinary research. The institution aims to generate knowledge that not only enriches academic discourse but also contributes to practical solutions at regional and international level. Research focuses on strengthening social welfare, improving quality of life, developing technological innovation, building a just society and promoting the creative industries. The SMK places particular emphasis on citizen science initiatives that empower communities to actively participate in research and share results. This makes scientific/artistic activities open, inclusive and produces a significant impact on society.

Cooperation and networking

Collaboration and networking are an important part of the work of the SSC, ensuring knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary growth. The SMK actively participates in national and international networks, partnerships and projects, strengthening the links between science, studies and business. Collaboration with a wide range of national and international organisations in higher education, research, public and private sectors to add value to society.

International and interdisciplinary networks
  • The DIVERSE European University Alliance represents an innovative alliance of twelve universities from eleven European countries that seek to improve the quality of higher education in all its dimensions (https://diverse-university.eu/).
  • Peace Research Community Europe (COST Action CA23129) is a Pan-European network with more than 30 countries, focusing on peace, conflict, and violence prevention (https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA23129/).
  • NEEDS (COST Action Proposal) network unites researchers across Europe (led by PXL, Belgium), focusing on AI in healthcare, neuro-inclusivity, digital engagement.
  • Climate Change and Mental Health (CliMent) Network unites more that150 researchers in psychology, ecologists, sociologists, psychiatry, etc.
  • European Alliance of Orthorexia Nervosa (EAON) – unites international researchers in nutrition, psychiatry, psychology, etc.
  • EU Circular Economy Network for All – unites international researchers from more than 30 countries, focusing on consumer protection through reducing, reusing, repairing (https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA22124/).
