English Foundation

The English foundation course is offered only to applicants who intend to pursue Bachelor’s studies at SMK but do not have the required level of English language proficiency. Therefore, the applicant must also satisfy the admission requirements of the chosen programme and indicate this information in the application form.

The programme is available every semester starting Fall and Spring and is delivered full time.

Besides the English language, students are also able to attend various classes offered at SMK which could help to decide what to study at the university level.

Information

We welcome applications from students from all around the world and from a wide variety of educational systems.

We do not take into consideration an applicant’s race, religion, national origin, sex, or country citizenship in determining admission to the study programmes of the SMK College of Applied Sciences.

The programme consists of 12 academic hours per week plus various independent and group projects in order to help students better prepare for university studies.

Price

Tuition fee for one semester programme is 1400 Euro. Application fee 120 Euro.

Incoming non-European students must cover one full year tuition fee before the arrival on campus.

Average school graduation grade – 8.5 (85% out of 100%).
Complete the scholarship assignment.
English language level B2 (with proof of IELTS, TOEFL certificates, or by passing a language test at SMK).
The application fee is paid and the receipt is attached to the application.

This scholarship is given for one semester of studies for applicants of the business management study sphere, with a chance of reapplying for other semesters in the future if a student meets all the criteria later on.

10% reduction for family members of SMK students or alumni

The sibling discount of 10% will be awarded to the next sibling studying at SMK when both family members attend the college at the same time, or if the other sibling has graduated from SMK College of Applied Sciences previously.

Terms and conditions:

Applicant must complete the application form with the certified birth certificates of both siblings for the discount to be granted.
The discount takes effect from the date of submission of the application and relevant documents.
A sibling relationship is defined as either brother or sister
This discount will be provided for the whole study period, which is equal to a 10% discount from the semester fee.
The awarded discount is not transferable for cash, nor refundable, and cannot be transferred to a non-sibling.
The decision to award the sibling discount will be made by the manager of international studies at SMK College of Applied Sciences.

30% for the second SMK bachelor’s degree studies

Up to 50% SMK tuition fee reduction for the best and most active students, eligible only for 2nd and 3rd-year SMK students

Admission dates and terms

Fall Semester Admission:

Admission starts on December 2.
The semester commences on September 1.
Deadlines: July 1 – Applicants from non-EU/EFTA countries, August 10 – Applicants from EU countries.

Spring Semester Admission:

Admission starts on September 2.
The semester commences on February 1.
Deadlines: December 1 – Applicants from non-EU/EFTA countries, January 10 – Applicants from EU countries.

Application process

Submit the application form ot apply.smk.lt/ and pay the application fee. Please, make sure to check all the requirements according to the chosen program.
Before applying, please review the country-specific requirements to ensure all necessary documents are included.
You will be invited to a motivation interview. After receiving your admission, the first tuition fee must be paid to confirm your enrollment at SMK.
Start the TRP process at the nearest Visa Facilitation Services Center. More information can be found here.
Once your TRP is approved, we’ll be ready to welcome you to Lithuania and help you sign your study contract.

Documents for Qualification Assessment:

Diploma or provisional certificate: Your highest qualification (in the original language).
Academic transcript: Listing all subjects, grades, and credits/hours. Can be submitted electronically if the appendix isn’t issued yet.
Proof of name change: If your diploma name differs from your passport (e.g., marriage/divorce certificate or other official document).
Other supporting education documents: If needed to clarify qualifications.

Academic Recognition of Foreign Qualifications

SMK College of Applied Sciences (SMK) is appointed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Lithuania for recognition of foreign qualifications for the purposes of further studies at SMK. The evaluation of qualifications is a part of the admission procedure, and all students have to undergo this process. Application & Identity Documents

Application fee receipt: Paid once per degree; exemptions for English Foundation Programme students continuing at SMK.
Valid passport copy: Must be valid for at least 2 years.
Entry qualification documents: High school/secondary diploma, school leaving certificate, or college diploma. Must be translated into English/Lithuanian if the original is in another language. Minimum overall score: 50%.
Consent for qualification evaluation: Through the Lithuanian Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (CQAHE).

Language & Other Requirements

Proof of English proficiency: IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL 69+, FCE, LanguageCert IESOL B2+, PTE Academic 59+, or Duolingo 110+.
Internal SMK English test: 50 €; available if no certificate.
Exemptions: English Foundation Programme graduates only need their certificate when applying for a bachelor’s degree.

Motivation Interview

After the applicant has paid the application fee and submitted the application, we invite him for a motivational interview. The interview is done online using the Google Meet platform, and the basic goal is to evaluate the reasoning and motivation of a future student. After an interview, the decision of admission is given in a couple of days.
