Fall Semester
Admissions open at the beginning of the year, with classes starting in early September.

Spring Semester
Admissions open in early September, with classes starting in February.

The English foundation course is offered only to applicants who intend to pursue Bachelor’s studies at SMK but do not have the required level of English language proficiency. Therefore, the applicant must also satisfy the admission requirements of the chosen programme and indicate this information in the application form.  The programme is available every semester starting Fall and Spring and is delivered full time.

  2. Submit your online application at apply.smk.lt and attach:
    • Higher secondary education diplomas with result transcripts
    • Passport copy
    • Other necessary documents in colour scans (and translations if needed)
    • Receipt for the application fee payment
  3. Motivational interview – Once your application is reviewed, you will receive a link to reserve the time for your 15-minute online interview. The motivational interview is scored, and it’s based on how fluently you speak, how well you understand your chosen study field, your awareness of Lithuanian education and culture, your future goals, and your creative thinking.
  4. Document recognition process – SMK verifies your academic qualifications (usually 1–4 weeks). We might request for additional documents during this step.
  5. Conditional acceptance letter & invoice – If accepted, you will receive these by email.
  6. Tuition fee payment – Pay the full first-year tuition (non-EU students needing a TRP must pay in full before documents are issued) and upload the receipt to your application.
  7. Mediation code for TRP application – Issued by SMK in 5-10 business days after the tuition fee payment is received by SMK.
  8. Apply for Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) via the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS).

The general timeline for the admission process is one month from the day of full application submission and application fee payment, in cases where all the documents are uploaded and no additional information is required from an applicant.
The temporary residence receiving process might take around 3 months.

Attend orientation week, submit your original documents, and start your studies.

Considering the fact that applying to university could be very stressful and confusing, the SMK International Office will be always available to help you, guide you, and assist you in submitting the required paperwork. In order to make this process faster and easier for you, all documents could be submitted via e-mail, and in case we find it necessary we will request originals.

We will be pleased to provide you with all necessary application materials as well as with any course or programme you may require. Please note, that students are coming from all over the world from different educational systems with different educational backgrounds therefore in some cases SMK admissions committee might request some additional documents in order to evaluate applications.

Scholarships

What documents do I need to apply?

1. Official Qualification Recognition by Lithuanian ENIC/NARIC. The detailed process is described during the application process;

2. Reference from a teacher;

3. Entry qualification documents (e.g. High school diploma);

4. Translation of the documents to the English/Lithuanian/Russian languages. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translation(s);

5. A copy of a valid passport (must not expire for at least 6 months).

Can I pay tuition together with the application fee?

Yes, it is possible.

If I do not get a visa, is my fee refundable?

Yes, you can always ask for a refund of the tuition fee.

Do you offer any scholarships?

SMK College of Applied Sciences is offering two scholarship programs to our 1st-year students that you can apply for during the application process. Find all the information below about the requirements and other options for tuition fee reductions.

20% SCHOLARSHIP FOR EASTERN PARTNERSHIP COUNTRIES

Citizens of the following countries can apply:

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Georgia
  • Ukraine
  • Moldova

Criteria for being considered for the scholarship:

  • Be a citizen of one of the Eastern Partnership countries;
  • Average school graduation grade – 8,0 (80% out of 100%);
  • Payment of the application fee has to be attached.

40% TALENT SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship applies only for the first year of studies, after that students can apply for other scholarship programs.

Criteria for getting the scholarship:

  • Average school graduation grade – 8,5 (85% out of 100%);
  • Complete the scholarship assignment;
  • English language level B2 (with proof of IELTS, TOEFL certificates, or by passing a language test at SMK);
  • The application fee is paid and the receipt is attached to the application.

20% BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is given for one semester of studies for the applicants of the business management study sphere, with a chance of reapplying for other semesters in the future if a student meets all the criteria later on.

  • Be an applicant for one of the following programs:
    – International Business
    – Marketing and Advertising,
    – Tourism and Recreation,
    – Finance and Investment Management,
    – Sustainable Business and Green Technologies,
    – Business Building and Management,
    – Future Business and Innovations,
    – International Trade and Customs Logistics,
  • Write a motivational letter “Why am I eligible for this scholarship?”
  • Average school graduation grade – 8,0 (80% out of 100%);
  • Payment of the application fee has to be attached.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES

Spring semester: 20th of January

Fall semester: 20th of August

The applications or other additional documents submitted later than the deadlines will not be reviewed.

OTHER TUITION FEE REDUCTIONS

– 10 % reduction for family members of SMK students or alumni;

The sibling discount of 10% will be awarded to the next sibling studying at SMK when both family members attend the College at the same time, or if the other sibling has graduated from SMK College of Applied Sciences previously.

Terms and Conditions

  • Applicant must complete the application form with the certified birth certificates of both siblings for the discount to be granted;
  • The discount takes effect from the date of submission of the application and relevant documents;
  • A sibling relationship is defined as either brother or sister;
  • This discount will be provided for the whole study period which is equal to a 10 % discount from the semester fee;
  • The awarded discount is not transferrable for cash, nor refundable, and cannot be transferred to a non-sibling;
  • The decision to award the sibling discount will be made by the Manager of International studies at SMK College of Applied Sciences.

– 30 % for the second SMK Bachelor’s degree studies;

– up to 50% SMK Tuition Fee Reduction for the best and most active students, eligible ONLY for 2nd and 3rd-year SMK students.

Should I take an English language test (FCE, IELTS 5+, TOEFL 59+ or LanguageCert IESOL B1+) if my previous studies were held in the English language?

A document from your previous school proving your study language is enough in this case.

Can I work during my studies?

Yes, 20 hours of work per week is permitted for international students in Lithuania.

Are there any country limitations?

SMK is open to students from all around the world!

 

Does SMK assist in receiving a visa?

Yes, we provide assistance through the whole process.

How do I apply for a Lithuanian visa?

You should check the requirements of the documents and then find the closest Lithuanian embassy to you, and then just book an appointment. We will assist you through the process. More information.

When is it recommended to start the application process?

As soon as possible! It is best if you start the application 3-4 months in advance, as visa and document verification procedures can take a long time.
