SMK “Career (Un)truths” Debates: Students and Employers to Meet

Latest updates from SMK

The labour market is changing faster than ever before – and it is not only employers’ needs that are evolving, but also the younger generation’s attitudes towards work, careers and their professional future. What seemed obvious yesterday may already be just one of many “career truths” today. That is why SMK College of Applied Sciences invites students, employers and business representatives to the “Career (Un)truths” debates – an open discussion about what is really happening in today’s labour market, what both sides expect from one another, and what skills are needed to successfully enter the professional world.

How is the labour market really changing? What skills are employers looking for today? And what does the younger generation expect from their future careers?

These are some of the questions we will explore during the SMK “Career (Un)truths” debates, bringing together students, employers and business representatives.

This will not be a formal company presentation or a one-sided conversation. “Career (Un)truths” is a live discussion where different perspectives meet. Employers will share their practical experience and talk about what they expect from young professionals, while students will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their perspectives and hear real insights from the labour market.

During the debates, we will explore topics that often remain between the lines: which skills really matter when starting a career, how expectations meet during job interviews, how the relationship between employees and employers is changing, and which “truths” about careers are worth keeping in mind.

 FOR STUDENTS – AN OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • hear real insights from employers;
  • learn what skills businesses are looking for today;
  • ask questions and take part in the discussion;
  • better understand employers’ expectations;
  • meet potential employers;
  • prepare for their first or next career steps.

 FOR EMPLOYERS – AN OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • meet future talent;
  • introduce their organization and share its perspective;
  • build new connections with students;
  • hear the expectations of the younger generation;
  • share practical experience and contribute to students’ career development.

 The debates will take place in three SMK cities
